With the release of the CIA torture report last week, I ask, what does it mean to be a country that tortures? Modern coercion methods and deceptive practices have been a part of our nation's lexicon since the early 1940s. But where is the line between misery and torture? How can we be sure that the intelligence we receive from these techniques is accurate and truthful? Have they been used in this war to gather valuable insight into the mind of the enemy? Or have forced confessions been sought out of presupposition? Do we think we know before we actually know? Is it truth we're after or justification for actions and plans we intend to carry out anyways? False information leads to inaccurate war strategies, increasing the likelihood of unnecessary deaths. Which begs the question, what's is the moral ideal that should be maintained during war? Is torture a bridge too far, or is it a natural part of war? Why and how can we justify calling ourselves a progressive society when we still don't have clear policies that determine how war should be waged? Does this point to a deeper problem that exists with in ourselves that is beyond political reach? Is mankind in greater need of a revolution or redemption?

This piece is a response to the negative stereotypes projected onto cowboy/redneck culture. The video is manifesting a false-positive for the viewers who are hyper aware out misogyny and condemning the patriarchy.
