Please take a look at this list of Equity Arts body members and affiliates. These people either engage in the direct decision making of Equity Arts and are featured on their website, run spaces affiliated with Equity Arts members, or participate in Equity Arts events or directly benefit from gigging with them. Please engage with those you know personally or professionally who can be reached directly via email or phone. As you do this, please be aware that those at the top of Equity Arts have maintained a campaign of misinformation around the project and that some members of their own governing body are not fully aware of the situation. Use the statements we have already made to educate them. We suggest having a frank conversation with them about Equity Arts’ stated promises and their role or agency in taking action to make that happen. Critically and respectfully engage them in their own complicity in Equity Arts’ actions and what they intend to do to follow through with Equity Arts’ promise to protect {/}() {/}∆‡!(){/} and their autonomy, in a way that actually embodies racial equity and place-keeping. We do not accept the answer that if it isn’t Equity Arts, someone else will buy the building. Equity Arts is using public city funds in the form of a grant from the Chicago Department of Planning and Development to execute their plans, they are displacing {/}() {/}∆‡!(){/} and Tritriangle with taxpayer money. Demand they follow through on their explicit promise to {/}() {/}∆‡!(){/} and Tritriangle. Talk to them about the actual meaning of equity and how that would look on a city scale in this situation.
